Attendees will be able to hear first-hand how the production team approaches planning, shooting, editing, live streaming and much more from the moving surface of the sea, in unpredictable and often adverse weather conditions.
And discover how stringent accuracy requirements are met in all elements of racing, from the various sensors and imaging systems to the most accurate measurements for judges. Stephen Nuttall will shed light on the innovative technologies and collaborative effort involved in broadcasting to a global audience the world's best sailing competition.
Nuttall has over thirty years of experience working as a senior executive and consultant in the sports, digital and media industries, and is Director of Television Production and Media Rights at the America's Cup. His experience includes a stint as Senior Director of Google/YouTube in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Group Commercial Director at Sky.
In 2011 he founded First Decide to help sports and entertainment companies seize the opportunities created by changes in the media industry, driven by technological innovation. First Decide's clients include sports rights holders (such as the 36th America's Cup), broadcasters and private equity investors. Nuttall is also a member of Ofcom's Content Board. He holds an MBA from SDA Bocconi in Milan and UCLA, as well as a BA in Applied Physics from the University of Nottingham. He is Deputy Chair, Vice President of Engagement and Board Member of the British Science Association, a charity founded in 1831 to popularise the role of science in British society.
The America's Cup is the oldest international sports trophy (dating back to 1851). Races have generally been held every three or four years. The most recent America's Cup took place in Auckland in March 2021 and was won by Emirates Team New Zealand, the most successful team in recent history, who have won the America's Cup four times since 1995.
The 37th America's Cup regatta, which includes the Challenger Selection Series, will take place between August and October 2024 in the beating heart of beautiful Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia and one of the most visited cities on planet earth. Located around Port Vell and along the beach to Port Olympic, the sailing world has made Barcelona its home for what promises to be one of the most intense America's Cups in the event's 172-year history.
Integrated Systems Europe, ISE 2023, will take place at Fira Barcelona Gran Via from 31 January to 3 February 2023.
