Harman Kardon, 70 years showing the spectrum of sound

Harman Kardon

Latin America. Harman/Kardon, the audio brand passionate about engineering and art, celebrates 70 years of bringing the full spectrum of sound into homes. Since its early years, it has stood out as a brand close to the needs of consumers and with the most recent launch of Onyx Studio 8, it stands again as a technological and sustainable brand, thanks to designing one of the first luxury speakers made from recycled materials.

Since its inception in 1953, Harman/Kardon has been faithful to having an energetic spectrum of sound that to this day it keeps present. The story began thanks to two men, whose interest was to enjoy more of the moments of life with great design and refined sound – Sidney Harman and Bernard Kardon – who sought to show fusion with the art of excellence and audio dynamism to sound experts.

In 1959 Harman/Kardon introduced its first FM bandwidth tuner, named "Citation II", which automatically made the brand known as the only one with the dynamic sound that to this day keeps present in its devices. In its origin, it has made notorious the importance of having a sound system with excellence in homes to unite the family in their leisure time.

In the early 80s, the brand significantly supported the music industry by making its Harman Kardon Citation XX devices accessible to users. The editors of the number one U.S. audio magazine "The Audio Critic" called it "the world's best-sounding power amplifier." This amplifier was a project that had the goal of obtaining the best perceived sound in homes.

Praised for its particular design, in 1999 it launched the Harman Kardon® SoundSticks speaker and subwoofer system, multi-awarded to this day in its current versions. This modern audio system became a milestone in the history of fusion of audio and design, as it became part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA). This is a clear example of innovation of technology, art and comfort. It currently has its wireless version, which allows you to enjoy the same sound quality in any location of the home either while listening to music, movies, games and podcasts through any device that has Bluetooth technology.

The brand's signature design continued with GLA-55, launched in 2009, with a design that gives an "ice" effect. This was a clear example of merging art and science in a functional and beautiful way, designed to combine with home decoration subtly, but with a powerful sound. In addition, its versatility allows you to connect with any device to have a cutting-edge technology in the home audio system.

In 2017, Harman/Kardon made a significant improvement by incorporating Amazon Alexa with The Allure to become Harman/Kardon's first intelligent sound system. With a transparent speaker design equipped with the Alexa assistant, users had a truly immersive experience with audio to be able to interact with devices by using their voice and be able to do other activities at once.

In 2018, Harman/Kardon again generated great reviews of The Citation, the home theater audio system, being listed as the best of the moment to enjoy movies at home. Thanks to its innovation, elegant design, state-of-the-art technology and high resolution with LCD touch screens and Chromecast, The Citation is a must in the home.

One of the main objectives of Harman/Kardon is to be a luxury brand with care for the environment. This has led it to integrate the latest in hearing technology and design with its latest Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 8 home release. An elegant and sustainable horn, as it is made with recycled materials.

The fabric of the speaker grille is made with recycled polyester yarn, in option to 3 colors to match the decoration of the home. In addition, it has an aluminum handle that allows you to transport the speaker easily and when moving it from one room to another and connecting it to any device via Bluetooth, Onyx Studio 8 is automatically calibrated to optimize audio performance.

The future is now. Harman/Kardon in partnership with Renault Megan E-Tech becomes the official audio system of the prestigious car brand. This car marks the return of the hatchback that for years set the benchmark for dynamic design and all-electric performance with all-wheel driveability, involving Harman/Kardon. This allows collaborations with the latest models that look towards an electric world.
