Mexico. In the field of technology, advances are constant, especially in the last decade, and what is now considered the latest generation, in a few years can be surpassed by innovations in information technologies that need greater resources to offer their full potential.
The useful life of technology is getting shorter and shorter, which implies the need for constant evolution. Panduit estimates that the useful period for processing infrastructure and active equipment is approximately 5 years and companies should keep this in mind in their business structure.
According to the consultancy Select, the information and communications technology (ICT) market in Mexico will register a growth of 5.8% during 2023, which will reach a total value of 489,000 million pesos or around 24,000 million dollars. In this sense and considering that the World Bank estimates a growth of 1.5% of the Mexican economy, the technology sector will grow three times more than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.
The increase in resources and capabilities in technological applications, such as increased data processing, bandwidth and processing capacity, impacts all underlying systems. For example, the increasing heat generated in data centers, due to increased data processing, requires more powerful air conditioning systems and solutions to maintain the right temperature, explains Juan Pablo Borray, business development manager for Panduit Latin America.
The adoption of technologies and the useful life of the infrastructure depend on each company and its level of technological dependence, explains the executive. The pace of growth and upgrading is determined by the market, competitors and business needs. This became clear during the pandemic, where the companies that survived were those that quickly adapted to emerging technologies, such as digitization and e-commerce.
In the business sector, with the proliferation of intelligent buildings, there is a growing migration towards management systems based on Ethernet and artificial intelligence protocols, and the company continues to promote the adoption of technology in this type of buildings, such as video surveillance systems, various sensors and alarms that transmit data and receive energy through the network, using Power Over Ethernet (PoE) technology, to improve the comfort and experience of users.
In the field of industry, there is a significant increase in smart warehouses, driven by the growing demand generated during the pandemic and the rise of online commerce. Panduit focuses on technological solutions to monitor spaces, use robotics for picking, order picking and more efficiently manage these warehouses.
With regard to Data Centers, the manufacturer continues to develop connectivity and cable management solutions, both in copper and fiber optics. One example is its new FlexCore distribution panel for fiber optics. Likewise, their biggest bet in this segment is the power part, where they have complemented their offer of PDUs with a new portfolio of UPSs, initially intended for use in buildings, telecommunications rooms, monitoring center, among others.
Panduit is also working on the development of new products such as power distribution systems for data centers, such as its own postway bar system, and highlights the importance of the real-time energy monitoring and physical infrastructure management platform called SmartZone Cloud to optimize energy efficiency.
The executive points out that their diversity of products allows them to compete in different segments and open doors in new customers with solutions that go beyond traditional wiring. An example of this are the audio, video and collaboration streaming solutions through its Atlona brand, which allow customers to live a tangible experience when using Panduit products, in contrast to the network infrastructure that is not always visible or perceptible to the same degree.
In addition, with its two largest factories located in the region, the company provides an additional benefit, given the rapid availability of products. It also values its ecosystem of partners and distributors, recognizing their critical role in the effective delivery of products and solutions. To further strengthen this relationship, the company will continue to enhance programs such as Partner One, providing more benefits and training and marketing tools for its business partners.
Panduit foresees a constant evolution in infrastructure technology trends, adapting to market changes and developing innovative solutions to meet emerging needs in areas such as broadband networks, smart buildings, smart warehouses and data centers.
