International. Bosch announced plans to sell most of its products business from the Building Technologies division, including the communications division that includes the AV brands: Electro-Voice, Dynacord and RTS.
Bosch explained that in the future this Building Technologies division will focus on the business of integration with solutions and services for security, energy efficiency and building automation. In addition to communications, other areas that Bosch will put up for sale are Video and Access and Intrusion, which will affect some 4,300 associates in more than 90 locations around the world.
The brand is now looking for a buyer to take over all three business units along with its partners and locations.
However, Bosch stressed that the business of products related to fire alarm systems will not be commercialized. Due to its importance to systems integration, it will merge with the integrator business and continue.
"We want to become one of the world leaders in the integration of technological systems for construction and take advantage of the growth opportunities in that market. To achieve this, we need to consolidate and that is why we will focus on integration as our core business," explained Christian Fischer, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management at Bosch.
Meanwhile, Thomas Quante, president of the Bosch Building Technologies division, spoke about the current state of the units put up for sale. "These product businesses are very well positioned and will offer a promising future to their new owner as they include innovative products, highly qualified partners and a market environment with attractive growth opportunities," he said.
Following this realignment, the Building Technologies division will employ 7,600 associates and operate in 40 locations in 8 countries. As a brand-independent system integrator with a broad portfolio of energy and building solutions, the division will seek to benefit from digitalization and growing customer demand for integrated solutions.
