Colombia. Samsung, in partnership with the School of Management of the Universidad del Rosario, announced the end of the Samsung Innovation Campus 2023 program. This year, 53 young people from different regions of Colombia successfully completed their training in Artificial Intelligence and participated in a program that strengthened their employability skills, as well as connecting them with companies in the IT sector.
The program, offered free of charge and under the virtual modality, focused on promoting equal educational opportunities and closing gaps in access to high-quality training in topics related to the use of new technologies.
Aimed at young people between 18 and 28 years old, this course gave participants the opportunity to acquire not only technical knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, but also essential soft skills for their future insertion into the labor market. Through training, workshops and practical experiences, students developed technological, innovation and entrepreneurship skills, preparing them to face the challenges of industry 4.0. During the practical phase, the students created artificial intelligence solutions applicable to real business problems, thus demonstrating their capabilities in record time.
"At Samsung, we strongly believe in the transformative power of education and technology. This program is a clear reflection of our commitment to empower Colombian youth, providing them with the necessary tools to excel in the competitive labor world of industry 4.0," said Iván Laverde, Corporate Citizenship Manager of Samsung Electronics Colombia
Likewise, with the aim of strengthening this initiative and exploring synergies with the business sector, Samsung and the Universidad del Rosario held various meetings with businessmen and unions in the country. These meetings sought to socialize the project and find possible areas of cooperation, especially in relation to employability and the development of practical projects for students. As a result, the young people were invited to participate in selection processes in various companies, not only technology, supporting the country's digital transformation with their skills.
"With this initiative, we seek not only to train young people technically, but also to integrate them into the business ecosystem, where their skills can contribute significantly to the digital transformation of the country. The meetings with businessmen have been key to establishing these connections and opening new opportunities for our students," said Sandra Milena Chacón, Dean of the School of Management of the Universidad del Rosario.
In Colombia, since its inception in 2020, Samsung Innovation Campus has certified more than 1,300 young people in 4.0 sector skills, which during the first quarter of 2024 generated 250,000 jobs for the country.
These two entities will continue to collaborate to promote new opportunities for training and technological development for the benefit of Colombian youth. Through projects like this, they strive to make a lasting impact on society, promoting inclusion and equitable access to education and job opportunities in the field of technology.
Daniel de la Cruz, a graduate of this version of Samsung Innovation Campus and a native of Año de Aguas, a fishing municipality in the department of Magdalena, highlights "having a certificate from a program endorsed by Samsung and the Universidad del Rosario is very important, because it helps us open doors that would otherwise be very difficult in the professional space. It also helps to give weight to the projects we develop, since having participated in the program, they will show everything we learned."
