Latin America. Zoom announced the public beta of Smart Name Tags, a new feature designed to improve inclusion and participation in Zoom Meetings.
Smart name tags leverage artificial intelligence to apply name tags to people in a Zoom Room, making it easier for virtual participants to know who is in the room and creating a more connected and seamless meeting experience.
Admins can enable this feature through settings, and people can manually add their name tags during meetings or choose automatic recognition.
According to Zoom, this new feature is focused on today's work environment, where teams are often dispersed across multiple locations, and encouraging effective communication and inclusion during meetings is more important than ever. Smart name tags address this challenge by helping to make participants in a Zoom Room more easily identifiable, improving the overall meeting experience.
Key benefits of smart name tags include:
Improved inclusion: With smart name tags, meeting participants can easily see the names of each attendee in the room, whether they're speaking or not, making virtual communication more personal and inclusive.
AI-powered: Automatic smart name tags use AI to distinguish participants in a Zoom room. Users can manually add their name tags during a meeting or sign up for automatic recognition, allowing all meeting participants to be viewed, identified, and participate in the conversation.
Improved meeting dynamics: By helping to distinguish who is present in a meeting, smart name tags foster a more engaging and collaborative environment. This innovation is particularly beneficial when teams are meeting for the first time or when meetings include external parties, as it helps participants connect and collaborate quickly.
Smart name tags must be enabled through the admin settings. Individual users can then sign up and consent through their profile, allowing their name tag to be automatically displayed in the Zoom Room video stream. These name tags can also be edited if needed.
