Colombia. Samsung, in collaboration with the Universidad del Rosario, announced the opening of Samsung Innovation Campus 2024, a free Artificial Intelligence training program for young Colombians from all regions of the country.
This alliance seeks to close the gaps in access to high-quality education, generating a greater impact on the development of young people's professional profiles.
From October 25, students between the ages of 18 and 28 will have the opportunity to apply to be part of the 2024 version of the program, which will be focused not only on offering young people knowledge for the development, understanding and application of AI-based technologies, but also on analytical skills, problem-solving and other essential soft skills, such as effective communication and teamwork, which are highly valued in today's world of work.
Since its first edition in 2020, Samsung Innovation Campus has managed to certify more than 1,000 young Colombians, offering a variety of courses ranging from Python coding to advanced artificial intelligence techniques.
Throughout its history, Samsung's global initiative has evolved, expanding its initial focus on coding and programming to include aspects of employability and functional projects. Through strategies such as Capstones and Hackathons, where young people face different challenges, the program encourages the development of projects, putting into practice the knowledge and skills acquired.
"Samsung Innovation Campus has established itself as a space for creation and transformation, where the talent of young people, combined with rigorous training, has made it possible to apply artificial intelligence in real projects. These initiatives reflect the potential of the students and the effectiveness of the program to empower the next generation," said Iván Laverde, Corporate Affairs Manager of Samsung Colombia.
This year, as a novelty, the program will incorporate specialized workshops in English. Students will participate in four sessions focused on conversation and interview preparation in that language. The workshops seek to overcome the language barrier that often limits the global opportunities of young people.
Samsung Innovation Campus 2024 is open to applicants who meet the technical requirements and have basic knowledge in coding, Python programming, and mathematics. Those interested can register from October 25 to November 15 through innovationcampus.com.co, where they must fill out a form with their data and consult the terms and conditions of the call.
The selection process will include technical tests, essays and interviews to choose 76 students who will participate in this new edition. The course is virtual and requires a commitment of 90% attendance, with an availability of 3 hours per day and a minimum average to pass.
At the end of the program, graduates will receive a certificate that endorses their skills in Artificial Intelligence. In addition, the top five students will earn an additional certification from Microsoft, thus strengthening their credentials in the job market.
"With this new edition, our goal is to ensure that young Colombians have access to the necessary tools to succeed in the ICT world, a sector that has annual growth rates of between 10% and 15%. Their capabilities will allow them to promote the digital transformation of the country," added Sandra Milena Chacón, Dean of the School of Management of the Universidad del Rosario.
These two entities will continue to collaborate to promote new opportunities for training and technological development for the benefit of Colombian youth. Through programs such as Samsung Innovation Campus, they strive to make a lasting impact on society, promoting inclusion and equitable access to education and job opportunities in the field of technology.
