Brittany Ferries installs digital signage on its ships

Brittany Ferries instala cartelería digital en sus barcos

International. Brittany Ferries, one of Europe's leading shipping companies, has taken a step forward in technological innovation by implementing Deneva's Digital Signage solution on its flagship ships Galicia, Salamanca and Santoña.

This initiative seeks to transform the passenger experience and optimize internal processes in a highly competitive maritime market, where differentiation is key.

Addressing infrastructure challenges in maritime environments
The maritime environment presents unique challenges, such as intermittent or no connectivity, and the need for scalable and reliable systems. DENEVA responded to these challenges with a robust technical infrastructure that ensures interoperability and continuous operation of the solution. Integrated systems allow information to be updated in real time, even in areas without connectivity, offering a seamless experience to passengers and simplifying operational crew management.

The platform's bespoke developments allow Brittany Ferries to optimise onboard services, achieving greater efficiency in content distribution and facilitating rapid updates. According to Steven Perrot, Project Development Manager at Brittany Ferries, "The integration of digital signage on our ships has been a milestone in our innovation strategy. Together with DENEVA, we have simplified internal processes and improved the travel experience for our passengers. In addition, their experience in the sector has allowed us to overcome the challenges of connectivity at sea with intuitive solutions adapted to our needs"

Making the trip an unforgettable experience
As a result of this strategic collaboration, more than 200 players have been installed in an ambitious project of progressive implementation on three of the company's ferries. A combination of conventional signage, including corporate or entertainment information and menu boards, based primarily on LG's Windows and WebOS operating systems; and ELO Touch-branded interactive screens, which allow for greater interaction with passengers and offer personalized services.

The InfoKiosk solution, designed specifically for Brittany Ferries, has become an essential element of onboard Digital Signage, offering passengers key information about their journeys in real-time, such as itineraries, arrival times and current position of the ship. This interactive system facilitates the planning of activities on board and provides up-to-date data on the weather at destination, local transfers and transport schedules, as well as offering access to a digital magazine with articles about the destinations visited and activities available.

In addition, InfoKiosk allows passengers to browse the boutique's catalog on board, with a wide selection of products including fashion, cosmetics, souvenirs and items exclusive to each region. The catalogue is centrally managed through the DENEVA product portal, ensuring up-to-date information on availability, prices and descriptions. This interactive functionality fosters a personalized and convenient shopping experience during the journey.

Another standout tool is Accommodation Object, which offers detailed stateroom information, including real-time rates and availability. Passengers can easily make reservations, tailoring their choice to their needs and preferences. All InfoKiosk content is available in a multi-language format, ensuring an accessible and inclusive experience for travelers of different nationalities and languages.

A decentralized approach to content distribution
DENEVA's decentralized architecture synchronizes a central server with local servers on each ship, ensuring content availability even in the absence of connectivity. This solution allows it to operate autonomously and offers the crew tools such as deneva. Control, which facilitates the management of content through mobile devices, allowing specific updates in real time and adaptations according to the onboard environment.

Among its outstanding applications, deneva. Control allows you to broadcast safety videos, adjust the brightness and volume of the screens, and display relevant content according to the passenger's location, improving the experience and maintaining safety standards.

Commitment to sustainability and operational excellence
In line with Brittany Ferries' sustainability efforts, the collaboration with DENEVA includes the use of energy-efficient hardware. This approach not only reduces environmental impact, but also ensures efficient and reliable operations. DENEVA offers comprehensive technical support, training and continuous advice, consolidating a long-term relationship of trust.

Cooperation between teams has been key to the success of the project. Our goal is to continue to innovate together, driving operational excellence and continuously improving the passenger experience on board their ships."

Efficiency, loyalty and innovation as results
The implementation of DENEVA has streamlined Brittany Ferries' internal processes, allowing for quick and personalised content updates. This has resulted in an improved experience for passengers, strengthening loyalty and attracting new customers. Brittany Ferries thus consolidates itself as a leader in the maritime sector, differentiating itself by its commitment to technological innovation.
