Crestron, first manufacturer to obtain SAVe certification

Crestron, primer fabricante en obtener la certificación SAVe

International. Sustainability in AV, SAVe, announced that Crestron has achieved SAVe certification, underscoring its commitment to environmental and social responsibility. This milestone was reached following Crestron's participation in the SAVe Certification Program on July 18, 2024, at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.

The event brought together more than 30 Crestron employees from various departments, along with five SAVe representatives and a guest speaker from the Columbia Climate School.

The day's agenda included impactful educational sessions on climate change, e-waste management, plastic pollution, and recycling. This was followed by a workshop where Crestron employees collaborated to develop strategies to align the company's operations with the SDGs.

"We are thrilled that Crestron is the first manufacturer in the AV industry to become SAVe certified," said Christina De Bono, founder and president of SAVe. "It is a demonstration of their commitment to aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals and becoming a sustainability leader in our industry."

Breaking down barriers through cross-departmental collaboration

The SAVe certification program highlighted the transformative impact of involving representatives from various departments. Crestron employees engaged in a rich exchange of ideas, which led to innovative and forward-thinking initiatives, particularly in Product Design, which was a central point of discussion. This collaborative spirit demonstrated the power of a unified approach to addressing sustainability challenges and created a shared sense of purpose.

Crestron Sustainability Workshop Series

Inspired by the event, Crestron has taken decisive action to integrate sustainability into its core strategy. The company has launched a series of monthly workshops, ensuring that the three pillars of sustainable development – environmental, social and economic – are deeply embedded in its practices. These workshops focus on:

- Facilities management
- Social sustainability
- Design for sustainability
- Supply chain and manufacturing

"Crestron's efforts exemplify how organizations can drive meaningful change by implementing comprehensive and ongoing sustainability programs," SAVe highlighted.
