More than 10 kilometers of road in the Aztec country will be illuminated by LED lamps from Lighting Science Group, operated with solar and wind energy, thus being the first highway in this country to use this efficient technology in its public lighting.This project, announced jointly by Lighting Science Group and BHP Energy Mexico, had extensive research and testing to finally select this LED bulb, according to Alan Barson, CEO of BHP. "Our customer required the most efficient and reliable lighting system available to complement their advanced solar energy system," he explained.
The Bicentennial Viaduct will use 100-watt LED Roadway bulbs, of the Prolific DC series, managing to eliminate the high costs of electricity and maintenance during the long life of these, being 50% more efficient than sodium vapor bulbs, providing a more uniform distribution of light and increasing lighting levels by 18 kilometers.
