That is one of the main conclusions of the study conducted by IMS Research, which identified a substantial change in consumer tastes and media consumption habits increasingly leading to non-traditional audio playback alternatives.
The study indicated that the audio needs of the modern home evolve rapidly around mobile devices and surround sound projectors, among others, which are a challenge for the consumer electronics industry, as now the process of connecting to these products is quick and simple providing comfort and versatility.
Paul Erickson, an analyst at IMS Research, explained that "new wireless audio devices for homes are filling the void for consumers around the world, who only want the fundamental value of the best audio quality of what is being delivered by their TVs and mobile devices."
Demand for state-of-the-art wireless audio devices for homes is estimated to grow by more than 280% between 2010 and 2016, according to the IMS Research report Advanced Audio and AV Receivers.
