Brazil. NEC was selected by the Blue Wave Consortium to implement and integrate its automation systems to the various technologies of the Aquatic Stadium that is being built in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), for the games to be held in that city in 2016.
The company will be responsible for the installation of fire detection and analysis systems, sound and wiring for local monitoring. "Our technology will ensure the safety of visitors to the aquatic space, as well as the sound quality of the communication equipment and the efficiency of the entire electrical infrastructure, which will be fully integrated into the existing systems," explained Massato Takakuwa, director of NEC's government business area in Brazil.
The Aquatic Stadium is a modern space, with capacity to receive up to 18 thousand spectators. It will be composed of two Olympic swimming pools (one competition and one warm-up) of the latest generation and adequate infrastructure to house complementary assemblies (overlays). The pools will have modular metal structures to receive swimming competitions, in addition to the final phase of water polo. The entire venture will have NEC technologies with the purpose of ensuring more comfort, quality and safety for athletes and spectators.
The company will also be a sponsor of another major sporting event: the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, in the categories "Specialist in security equipment and software" and "Network equipment".
