International. Sainte-Ode Catholic Church is located in Chiayi, a city on the southwestern plains of Taiwan. This church is renowned for its architectural style, the first of its kind in Taiwan. Funded by an American woman, Lang Oda, and designed by a Mexican father Francisco Borboa, the church is named after Oda to honor her contributions.
The church has a striking look with high ceilings, ornate glass and classic lines. Due to the small number of priests in the area, the church was closed for more than 10 years. In 2015 that changed when Father Pu Ying Hsiung was ordained and assigned to Sainte-Ode by the Bishop area.
Coincidentally, Mipro, one of the manufacturers of portable PA systems, is headquartered just 10 minutes away. Mipro's application consultant, Daniel Ku, felt the acoustics posed a challenge because the sanctuary was highly reverberant and the existing sound system needed to be replaced.
Working on a limited budget and preserving the aesthetics of the church, Daniel had to be sure that he met certain criteria. The main concerns were that the sound system installation would not include large or medium active or passive speakers normally presented by other speaker manufacturers. They would also avoid laying cables.
After careful on-site analysis, Daniel suggested that the Mipro MA-303 PA System could meet the needs of the church. The system is compact, slim in size, lightweight and has wireless portability making it an ideal complement to overcome the various financial and visual obstacles.
General characteristics of the system supplied by MIPRO:
- Four MA-303S Portable PA System Wireless-Single Channel
- One ACT 312B-dual channel diversity receiver
- One ACT 312BT-Quad-Channel Diversity Receiver
- An AD-707A 4-channel antenna splitter
- Four ACT-32H handheld microphone transmitter
- Two ACT-32T Body Transmitter Package
- Two microphones MU53HN Head Worn
- One MT-90A Wireless Interconnect Transmitter
After performing several Sunday Masses, Father Pu is very impressed and commented: "The integration of the speakers into the decorations ended very well, that was one of the main concerns before the actual installation. The powerful clear sound quality and reduced feedback were clearly noticeable and pleasing to the congregation during Masses."
