Ecuador. Flat LCD panels, 3D projectors, video wall controllers and the Christie Brio collaboration system were recently installed in the control room of the Ecuador office of Halliburton, an oil service provider. The installation has been in charge of Nuvosign, an Ecuadorian company expert in the integration of complete digital signage solutions.
The room, known as DecisionSpace – 3D Asset Management Center (DS-3D AMC), is a monitoring and decision-making center in which Halliburton can see real-time details of production, drilling and geological data with its own integrated platform. It is also used as its main room for regional and global meetings and video conferencing. "It is a unique room globally for Halliburton as it monitors all of our workflows in one place, thus facilitating real-time decision making," explained Mario Cevallos, coordinator of the Halliburton Monitoring Center.
The display platform consists of Christie FHD552-X LCD flat panels and Christie Mirage HD6K-M stereoscopic projectors. These devices together form a videowall managed by the Christie TVC-700 controller that allows you to move the channels between the panels and the projectors. Additionally, the room has workstations that project their information over the network to view it on the video wall.
Mirage projectors, equipped with two input cards, allow Halliburton to perform two types of projection depending on the input being used. With input 1, a blending projection close to 5 meters is generated using an NVIDIA card that is installed in a projection workstation. And with the input 2 connected to the Christie TVC-700 two independent projections are made allowing the screen to be divided. An active 3D projection system is used for 3D projection – Halliburton has developed its own stereoscopic applications, with which the company can visualize 3D geology material in the room.
The Christie Mirage HD6K-M is a stereoscopic projector with 3DLP® technology, HD resolution and 6,000 ANSI lumens that offers high performance and ease of use. "It's a fantastic piece of equipment that provides crisp, high-brightness image quality, even with light on," says Alejandro Martín García-Cancela, general manager of Nuvosign.
As for the Christie FHD552-X, these are 55-inch commercial-grade LCD panels with ultra-narrow bezel. They offer full high definition resolution, high pixel density and backlit LED display. "They are screens that meet the high standards required by this type of professional installation thanks to their high brightness, resolution, image quality, easy installation and integration," says García-Cancela.
For its part, the Christie TVC-700 controller has the capacity to simultaneously manage hundreds of sources and display them in high resolution anywhere, in any size and in any number of windows throughout a videowall. The TVC-700 is PC-based, easy to use and has been purpose-built to cope with the harshness of 24/7 control room environments. In addition, Halliburton installed the Christie Brio Team+ presentation and collaboration system in this room.
