Bogotá will host "Imagine the Light"

Bogota sera sede deColombia. For the first time, an event on urban lighting planning and its importance as an articulator of public space, mobility and security will be held in Bogotá. The objective is to analyze  how to start building the Lighting Master Plan for the city.

Special guests of the forum include Linnaea Tillett, who has based her work on pedestrian lighting and urban environments and has been used to set guidelines in neighborhoods and city lighting presented at conferences around the world.

In his lecture, called "Planning from the beginning! An alternative approach to traditional master plans," the city will be spoken of as a garden and the local government as a gardener. The gardener is permanently pruning, watering and getting rid of insects. There is no point in time where the goal is reached and completion achieved. If the gardener ceases, the garden ceases to exist.

One of his latest projects in urban space is lighting along the 'Connective Corridor' in Syracuse, United States, whose intention was to give identity through a lighting design represented by development from a functional point of view as from the art of illuminating a public space.

Tmabién will be at the event Leni Schwendinger, lighting designer and urban planner from New York, who currently works with the engineering firm ARUP and specializes in projects focused on safety, vitality and quality of life in public space. Their presentation is called: "The darkness of the night is an opportunity for urban illuminators to design a welcoming, inclusive, and reflective environment."

Finally, the event will be attended by Paulina Villalobos, a Chilean architect specialized in lighting design, who has developed initiatives focused on the reduction of light pollution. Its flag is to work for the balance of light and darkness in the cities, to return to give the night its importance and to observe the firmament again. When planning  the lighting of a city, unnecessary light, which causes light pollution, can be reduced  by a high percentage.
