Latin America. Christie has launched a high-value digital cinema offering, the Christie CP2208, a projector that brings high brightness in 3D films and alternative content to 10.6-meter (35-foot) wide screens with a solid, rugged and easy-to-use 2K design. The model is the latest addition to the long list of Christie Solaria projection solutions that work with xenon lamp.
The CP2208 can be purchased with different lamp sizes and lenses, and offers the customer the possibility to add to their order an IMB (integrated multimedia block), which can consist of the Christie IMB-S2 with its fully integrated SMS (screen management system) and high-performance storage, or other IMB systems of the popular Series-2.
Compatible with various alternative content sources via dual HDMI ports and DVI connectors, the solution complies with DCI standards, with a 3-chip chipset, 0.69" S2K DLP Cinema® from Texas Instruments' (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN). Indeed, the 9,000 lumens within the DCI color space, and the up to 10,000 lumens for alternative content presentations, make cp2208 images fully compliant with DCI standards.
"The increasing difficulty of getting copies of films for re-release threatens exhibitors with ending up 'going black'. Therefore, the CP2208 will be a compact solution very well received by those exhibitors who need to offer digital content to viewers sensitive to the price factor, without incurring large capital investments, "said Allan Fernandes, product director of Christie Cinema Products.
The projector is scheduled to begin marketing worldwide in October.
