SPE is a network technology with revolutionary potential in IoT and IIoT. Based on IEEE's xBASE-T1 technology, SPE uses a single twisted pair for data transmission and miniaturized connectors. SPE can replace traditional fieldbus systems, helping to achieve high density, fast connections and ease of installation in smart buildings and industrial automation.
The range includes connectors, sockets, patch cables and installation cables that comply with IEC 63171-1. This SPE connection technology is recommended for the wiring of installations by various standardization bodies (IEEE, ISO/IEC, TIA). The products can be combined with existing R&Mfreenet sockets and 19 panels for local data networks.
Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) extends the concept of structured cabling systems and helps avoid bottlenecks at critical points. Only a twisted pair of cables is needed for signal and data transmission. Therefore, the cables are thinner and the sockets and connectors are smaller than conventional RJ45 connectors.
Therefore, SPE allows a higher connection density in devices, distributors and sockets. It takes up little space in cable ducts and reduces the potential burden of fires. SPE supports bandwidths up to 1,000 Mbit/s, at distances up to 40 m and transmission distances up to 1,000 m for 10 Mbit/s. This makes SPE a key technology for Ethernet/IP-assisted digitization in the automation of any installation.
