Home automation not only takes care of the elementary functions of the home, it can also be applied to recreational activities that will make your home a more comfortable place for you. This is the case of AquaTop, an interactive water screen that will turn your bathtub into an aquatic arcade stage.
This system allows you to play your favorite video games using your hands, while taking a relaxing bath. The gadget is based on a projection system that uses water as if it were an interactive screen commanded by your hands.
AquaTop offers you a new way to play with different sensations in the physical and visual. This system was presented at the Siggraph as a novelty in terms of the interaction between the user and a screen with physical characteristics that allow you to put your hands inside and activate the commands.
The prototype is the work of a group of Japanese engineers from the Tokyo University of Electro-Communications, and allows the projection of various contents, in addition to games (photographs, films, spreadsheets, email, etc.).
For the operation of AquaTop the water is covered with a special opaque powder. The equipment includes a Kinect to detect movements in the water and a depth sensor, in addition to its operating system capable of recognizing gestures such as dragging an image with your finger, or erasing elements simply by sinking them into the water until they disappear.
If you are already wondering where to acquire it, we regret to answer that at the moment it is a prototype, but that it already has enormous potential and that surely it will not be long before we see it applied in some real gadget.
