AV for schools: choosing the best solutions

Do you know how audio and video resources for schools can contribute to the growth of quality education in the country? The Discabos Group published a document answering this question.

Interactivity and collaboration are prerequisites for arousing the interest of digital natives in education: without technology it is very difficult to involve them in classroom activities.

For this reason, audio and video for schools are key resources to modernize this environment and provide students with more comprehensive learning experiences, as well as to ensure greater opportunities to enter free and quality universities.

The following are the opinions of Cristiano Mazza, product manager of the Discabos Group, on how to choose the best solutions.

What has changed in the classroom with technological advances?
People born after World War II until the mid-1960s, baby boomers, and those who make up Generation X (1965-1980), grew up with the maxim that while the teacher speaks, the student must listen.

The reality has changed, and while respect is a fundamental aspect of the quality of education in all institutions in the country, those born after 1980, millennials of generation Y and those of generation Z, require more than the dissemination of knowledge.

It is highly connected adults, adolescents, and children who see daily changes in all areas, including the way communication in educational institutions should be two-way.

How do audio and video solutions contribute to education?
As an essential requirement for the perpetuation of knowledge, it is natural that the greatest demand of an educational institution is the installation of resources in the infrastructure that help in this process.

Educators need to be better listened to, students need to be more attentive. To meet this demand and make communications more intelligible, a complete audio and video infrastructure is required for schools. They are sound solutions and visual equipment that reinforce the understanding of any topic to be transmitted.

Studies show that limited student interactivity is the result of problems during presentation or poor listening comprehension. Therefore, it is not enough to present information in classrooms, but it is also essential to properly assimilate the topic through visually interesting content.

What are the most commonly used audio and video solutions in schools?
The right solution is one that solves the problem or demand that originated your search. The pain of the educational environment is usually the quality of communication.

Among the audio and video solutions for schools that can make up this ideal infrastructure we can highlight: sound system for warnings in all environments, audiovisual systems for classrooms (with screens, microphones and speakers, for example), touch screen monitors required in collaborative classes and auditorium equipment.

The sound reinforcement part uses microphones, mixers, amplifiers, speakers, IP audio distributors and pre-recorded announcements. To enhance video capabilities, interactive displays, cabling, IP signal distributors, and signal extenders can be used.

With regard to the automation of these environments, many solutions can help in the overall control of the system by integrating all the tools presented. Therefore, technology makes classrooms productive, students more interested, and teachers and collaborators motivated.

Why is it important to have good audio and video solutions for schools?
The characteristics of audiovisual technology make the message reach the student in a clearer and more interesting way. In addition, the content transmitted is increased, with information (statistical data, videos, images, etc.) that can be instantly extracted from the web.

For a seamless communication experience, you need to pay attention to three main aspects:

- Publicidad -

• Environment: physical space for interaction with students, classrooms;
• Technology: proposed solutions to streamline routines, facilitate work and ensure the intelligibility of the transmitted content;
• Content: quality of the volume of information.

If these requirements are provided, everyone is more motivated, teachers can perform their tasks more creatively, and the learning process occurs naturally.

The automation of audiovisual equipment also increases practicality in classrooms and, consequently, efficiency in the dissemination of knowledge. Therefore, educators can follow the teaching schedule in an appropriate and timely manner.

In addition, electricity costs can be reduced, as well as maintenance and support costs to ensure a longer life cycle of the equipment : they will not turn on if they are not used. It is still possible to lighten the routine and free professionals to optimize their performance.

How to choose these solutions?
The choice is made from the analysis of the demand with the integrator, who will propose the solution for the school in question. It is important to realize that there is a process that always begins by mapping the needs of the institution.

Technology has this ability to solve problems and the recognition of its importance must also come from work teams, which must adapt to the new form of dissemination of knowledge in the context of digital transformation.
