Latin America. Emerson Network Power kicked off the year with two major pieces of news: the first is the change of its name, which is now renamed Vertiv, and the second is the appointment of Rob Johnson as CEO and President.
That decision comes after Platinum Equity bought the business from Emerson in a $4 billion transaction. Vertiv will focus on design, manufacturing and services in critical technologies for data centers, communication networks, and commercial and industrial environments. Emerson will also retain a minority interest in the company.
Rob Johnson, most recently the operations partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, spent 10 years at American Power Conversion (APC). He was APC's president and CEO when the company was sold to Schneider Electric for $6.1 billion in 2007. While at APC, he also held the position of general manager of the company Availability Enhancement Group.
Rob Johnson said the transition to new ownership offers a unique opportunity for the company. "As an independent company, Vertiv will operate with more freedom to make business strategies and investment decisions, move quickly as a startup, and focus on the innovative solutions our customers need in growing cloud, mobile and edge computing."
Vertiv will build on Emerson Network Power's broad portfolio of power management, thermal management and IT management products and services, including flagship brands ASCO®, Chloride®, Liebert®, NetSure™ and Trellis™.
To support the rebranding to Vertiv, the company revealed its new website www. VertivCo.com
