But there is one area that is often not considered: data protection. The sad reality is that using traditional backup approaches to recover data is inefficient for the performance and availability that DX is supposed to deliver. Legacy solutions require a great deal of downtime, while creating a backup, restoring data from the backup, and recreating lost data.

A modern data protection solution must eliminate or greatly reduce all of these expenses, as well as allow you to manage and resolve the "data copy" problem, by quickly and easily creating snapshots for any purpose, such as information recovery after a disaster, or for long-term retention and archiving.
These snapshots are commonly created programmatically based on policies that are easy to configure and manage, providing a level of data management that traditional backup products cannot support.
A modern data protection solution must be able to serve any type of purpose:

- Database recovery for testing and development
- Audit and e-discovery processes

Such a data protection solution will eliminate or greatly reduce the costs of these processes, while allowing to accelerate and achieve Digital Transformation initiatives.
