Mexico. Harvey Mason, Carlitos Del Puerto and Paul Gilbert, will be in charge of teaching the Master Class within the framework of Soundcheck Xpo, which will be held from April 22 to 24 in Mexico City.
On Sunday, April 22, legendary drummer Harvey Mason will be, who has accompanied jazz fusion and funk, sharing credits with Bob James, Chick Corea, the Brecker brothers, Chuck Loeb, Nathan East, Lee Ritenour, Ron Carter, Cassiopeia and Herbie Hancock, among others, in addition to printing the stamp of the rhythmic base of the Fourplay group. Producer and session musician, Harvey comes to Mexico for the first time to share the nooks and crannies of his career in music, rehearsals, the recording studio and the stage.
On Monday, April 23, Soundcheck will feature Carlitos Del Puerto. Son of Carlos Del Puerto, the bass player who learned to play accompanying Irakere to the shelter of his father, he was refining his own style by taking the Cuban musician to study cello at the Alejandro García Caturla Conservatory and, later, graduating as a professor of double bass and ensembles.
At the age of 17, Carlitos was recognized as Best New Jazz Artist in the framework of the Havana International Festival. As a side man he has managed to establish a prodigious musical career with credits alongside Bruce Springsteen, Quincy Jones, Chick Corea, Barbara Streisand, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Chris Botti and Herbie Hancock. At the same time as imposing his sound footprint on the projects he collaborates, he gives lectures and master classes on the demands of his instrument and the way in which he can be inspired through music.
To close the Master Class, on Tuesday, April 24 will be Paul Gilbert, who is considered one of the fastest guitarists in the world, so he was chosen within the top ten in a poll by Guitar One magazine. Not only does he stand out for his skill on the electric guitar, but he also performs with the acoustic guitar at a high level, as he demonstrates in his albums Acoustic Samurai and Gilbert Hotel.
