Mexico. Located in Purísima del Rincón, Guanajuato, Mexico, the Purísima Square Auditorium is a new performing arts center built for the benefit of more than 200,000 citizens in the municipalities of Rincón.
Created as part of the Plaza Purísima complex, the new facility was backed by the Ministry of Public Works and was conceived as a shining example of modern architecture. With the expectation of implementing the latest in lighting technology in the design, Interlight Mexico worked with the design team at Genesist and installed Chalice LED downlights, PHX LED ellipsoidal and Cyclorama Spectra Cyc LED luminaires from Altman Lighting.
"We had the opportunity to work with the client and the specifier on the project on a couple of past occasions, so they know our company well and trust our experienced design team," Altman lights install in the auditorium of the Plaza Purísimaenzó José Zedillo, General Director of Genesist. "Through this relationship, we really have the freedom to explore the best possible solutions for every lighting challenge, and it is always our goal to use the most innovative technology in our designs."
When Genesist and Interlight got to work, theatrical lighting design would first be influenced by the desire to use an energy-efficient solution for the unique venue. In addition, the team had to be aware of the selection of accessories that could keep pace in an active production environment.
"Due to the layout of the theater space and the energy-saving specifications, we had to identify LED lighting solutions that were powerful and provided a wide variety of beam angles for the chosen fixtures," Zedillo explained. "We also needed performance luminaires that were consistent and durable, from a reliable manufacturer that could provide full support during the bidding process." As we are very familiar with the reliability of Altman Lighting, we chose Chalice, PHX and Spectra Cyc luminaires because they meet all our needs."
With mounting options including pendant, recessed, aviation cable, wall mount, and yoke, Chalice LED downlights are also available with dimming options ranging from network dimming to DMX, and a variety of white or LED light options. State-of-the-art theatrical luminaires designed with a number of innovative features, PHX LED ellipsoidals are available in a selection of LEDs including RGBA, RGBW, 3000K, 5600K and 3000K/5600K tunable.
Zedillo continued: "The stage of the performance hall is 10 meters high, 14 meters wide and 10 meters deep, so the Chalice accessories were an excellent choice for the project. We're using them as work lights hanging from pipes in the network, and with their wide variety of lenses to choose from, they're doing an exceptional job."
Now complete, the new Purisima Square Auditorium is a cultural gathering place for those looking to be entertained and educated. As a public facility built to host the region's artistic and academic events, the interior design is ready to illuminate the creativity below.
"In this kind of government project, they are looking for state-of-the-art solutions, which will last for several years, but will also be affordable. The accessories we choose have to be powerful and reliable, and with Altman luminaires, we have it all," Zedillo concluded.
