Infinet Wireless deploys wireless network in Zacatecas

Mexico. Infinet Wireless has successfully installed a new high-capacity wireless infrastructure to improve public safety and expand its geographic coverage in the state of Zacatecas, located in north-central Mexico.

Infinet Wireless' solution has provided connectivity to around 150 remote sites in numerous municipalities across the state, enabling local authorities and law enforcement agencies to provide dynamic control of streets and neighborhoods, emergency care where needed, enhanced citizen protection, and connect REPUVE (Public Vehicle Registry) with all command and control centers in the area.

Infinet Wireless' wireless solution was selected to deliver the public safety project following a decision by the Executive Secretariat of the State Public Security System (SESESP), which is responsible for the safety of citizens throughout the state, with the main objective of carrying out a major review and technological renewal to ensure the safety of residents and visitors to the region.

"SESESP required a solution that could address the limitations of the legacy wireless platform we had, such as, making efficient use of the available limited radio spectrum, mitigating radio interference generated by third parties and unauthorized base stations, as well as achieving lower latency in the data and signal transmission of cameras in real time, even in the busiest places," said Jaime Francisco Flores Medina, executive secretary of SESESP in the state of Zacatecas.

One of the key challenges faced by SESESP was to ensure that its subsidiary, the Center for Coordination, Control, Command and Integral Communications (C5), could have access to dynamic and comprehensive visibility at the street level, which would allow rapid decision-making in all matters related to public safety, medical emergencies, environment, civil protection, fluidity of road traffic and provision of various services to the community in general.

Collecting and sharing real-time information from a multitude of sources presented a real challenge, especially since the information collected was subsequently to be distributed to various monitoring and control centers spread across the state.

"This was a project with understandably very strict requirements due to the critical nature of SESESP's work that protects citizens and visitors to the state. As the eighth largest state in Mexico, there were obvious geographical challenges in connecting more than 150 remote sites in Zacatecas," said Carlos de Lamadrid, regional business development manager for Latam at Infinet Wireless.

He added that "Our years of experience in developing cutting-edge wireless solutions are capable of operating, not only in various weather conditions and terrain topologies, but at the same time supporting bandwidth-intensive applications in real time, allowing SESESP to offer a solution that is helping the state continue its critical work safeguarding its citizens and entire communities."

Infinet Wireless suggested the design and implementation of the network based on its R5000 product family, which includes point-to-multipoint (PtMP) solutions as well as point-to-point (PtP) solutions. The new platform provided the necessary bandwidth and capacity, with room for future growth, for crucial systems that aim to improve people's lives, ensure their safety wherever they are, prevent and significantly reduce crimes of all kinds.

Ultimately, SESESP can now quickly collect all relevant information from corners of the state, then share it with authorities to take preventive and corrective action when necessary.

Infinet Wireless was part of the project that was implemented in its entirety by its local partner Compulogic SA de CV. This new infrastructure has become a wireless reference for all other states interested in implementing similar platforms. Compulogic has been operating in the state of Zacatecas for over 25 years and has conducted multiple communications and IT projects in various regions of the country for different industry sectors, including education, healthcare, private initiative and public safety.
