International. Vortice Dance Company, one of the Portuguese dance collectives with the greatest international recognition, has just held in Fatima, central Portugal, a videomapping without a face-to-face audience with Christie projectors in tribute to the pilgrims who this year were unable to make the traditional pilgrimage to the Shrine of Fatima due to the global pandemic of Covid-19.
Fatima is a municipality of 11,000 inhabitants that houses the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, famous worldwide for being one of the most important places of pilgrimage of the Catholic faith, receiving about six million people a year.
For this show, without a face-to-face audience, and baptized Pellegrino, Vortice created a spectacular projection mapping of 90 meters on the façade of the Missionários da Consolata building, which was accompanied by dance and broadcast live via streaming to an audience of 25,000 people.
Five Christie D20WU-HS laser projectors of 1DLP® technology, WUXGA resolution and 20,600 ISO lumens were used. With a weight of 42 kg, it is a model that has an unbeatable brightness-to-weight ratio, and a viable alternative to 3DLP projectors of similar luminosity. It also incorporates Christie BoldColor technology that significantly improves performance and color saturation.
According to the creators, the show was a message of hope for the future and also constituted a form of gratitude to the entire medical and hospital community. The show had a community and interactive component, since a good part of the projected images had been contributed by the pilgrims themselves and integrated into the show. The mapping also included videos of previous Vortice projects related to Fatima.
Rafael Carriço, director and choreographer of Vortice, points out: Christie's HS Series projectors once again demonstrated their great luminosity, which allowed us to map such a large surface with only five equipment, and achieving extraordinary image quality. We are delighted with the brand and with the service and support provided by its distributor Total AV.
