International. With the aim of promoting and stimulating the development of open standard wireless lighting solutions and offering maximum interoperability, six lighting system manufacturers signed an alliance called The Connected Lighting Alliance.
At the beginning of the project, the focus of the activities is on consumer lighting applications. One of the motivations of this alliance, according to its organizers, is that consumers are currently confused and frustrated by the diversity of non-interchangeable wireless communication solutions that exist in the market.
By being in contact with open standards bodies and regulators and by fostering the development of a robust wireless lighting control ecosystem (e.g., component and solution providers), The Connected Lighting Alliance aims to make wireless lighting products and solutions interoperable and easy to operate.
In this process participate: GE Lighting with its energy efficiency solutions; Lutron Electronics, and its lighting controls; the German Osram and its lamp factories; Panasonic seeks to reaffirm its commitment to being a technology manufacturer with eco-innovation; Royal Philips Electronics with its lighting area based on energy efficiency; and Toshiba Lighting with its lighting expertise, now with its range of LED products.
Finally, the members indicated that The Connected Lighting Alliance is an association that has the doors open to all those interested in contributing to the objectives of this alliance. To learn more about this project click here.
