Mexico. For the last presentation in the Federal District of the band Maroon 5, the sound technicians had to face a great challenge in guaranteeing the quality of the sound for all the attendees of the concert due to the size of the venue, the Arena Ciudad de México.
To provide the audio of the concert, the company Apertour, based in Monterrey, was selected. Daniel Martinez, owner of the company, explained that he used a PA consisting of 23 MILO curvilinear array speakers plus a MILO 120 high-power speaker per side augmented by two hanging arrays of six high-power 700-HP subwoofers per side, eight 700-HP subwoofers in stack per side plus six central ones.
In addition, in the outfill 17 MILO speakers plus a speaker of the same reference 120 per side were implemented. Daniel Martinez added that "The self-amplification of the Meyer Sound teams and the fidelity make them ideal for the great productions in Mexico."
Jim Ebdon, room engineer for Maroon 5, said: "Achieving homogeneous coverage from top to bottom was a real challenge due to the size of the enclosure, so it required many speakers. With the Meyer Sound system a natural and relatively flat sound has been achieved, so I have had to make very few adjustments to my mix. That's a very good thing."
The sound design had the support of the manufacturer Meyer Sound, through the engineers Rodrigo López and Oscar Barrientos, with the acoustic prediction system MAPP Online Pro, which allows you to directly import the plane and have a real prediction to know exactly how the system will behave in reality.
