International. Because public and commercial buildings are responsible for 40% of global energy consumption, mainly due to the use of heating, cooling and lighting, World Green Building Week was launched, to raise awareness about environmental protection.
In this sense, led by the World Green Building Council, several companies that manufacture lighting systems joined the campaign that takes place from September 17 to 21, seeking to reduce energy consumption as a result of this item.
Philips Lighting is one of the companies that joined this day, encouraging the use of intelligent lighting control systems in public buildings, since lighting is responsible for 35% of energy consumption in these spaces.
According to this manufacturer, smart controls can save up to 70% of that energy consumption. While occupants consume energy by using light in buildings, smart controls automatically change lights when the space is empty and adjust lighting levels based on the amount of natural light.
With World Green Building Week, it seeks to highlight the key role of buildings in conserving natural resources, saving money and creating jobs, while providing healthier places to live, work and play.
In addition, during these five days many activities are carried out around the world and there are chapters in each country that seek to encourage buildings to be environmentally responsible and profitable.
