International. Korea is the scene of a new legal dispute between tech makers Samsung and LG, this time over an alleged usurpation of knowledge in Oled technology developments.
According to Samsung, the plaintiff company, LG has hired several engineers from its plant to acquire the confidential information they have about the research that Oled technology has been developing in recent years.
But LG would not only be interested in information about technology from its competition, as Samsung maintains in its lawsuit that it also seeks other trade secrets, according to the profile of employees and researchers who have resigned and have linked to LG.
In total, Samsung has filed a lawsuit against 11 of its former employees, including three top executives, all accused of improperly stealing confidential information and sharing business secrets. In addition, it accuses them of breaching a confidentiality clause included in the contract, which makes direct reference to working with the competition.
Samsung's claims with this lawsuit are to earn about $1 million for each of its former employees who have been linked to LG. It should be remembered that this company has been a pioneer in the research and development of Oled technology for screens, so its arguments in the lawsuit are well founded.
But this is not the only legal process that takes place between the two companies, as LG filed a precautionary measure to Samsung for its best-known devices, such as the Galaxy tablet, the Galaxy S3 Smartphone and the Galaxy Note, alleging that the property rights of LG Display are being breached.
In addition, the legal battle that Samsung faces with its rival Apple for the technology used in the Iphone and Galaxy phones is well known, a process that Samsung lost in the United States and for which it must pay US $ 1,000 million.
