International. The broadcast that allowed you to see the details of Felix Baumgartner's free fall from space, which broke three world records in mid-October, was supported by Reidel Communication's technology.
This company was responsible for providing wireless and wired integration, intercom systems, fiber-based video and signal distribution, as well as wireless video links of cameras on board the capsule. In this way, the ground checkpoint was able to be aware of everything that happened in the test.
In the capsule that transported Felix Baumgartner to the stratosphere was installed a video system composed of nine high-definition cameras, with specially developed telemetry control. This system was responsible for the control of the recording and also functioned as an integral digital video router.
On the ground, the Artistic Digital Matrix system structured the communications infrastructure of the entire complex, including mission control, production offices, the press center and the mobile unit.
All ground video signals were distributed and sent with MediorNet technology. For this specific project, Riedel installed 24 nodes in a redundant ring topology to provide maximum reliability. In case of a potential connection loss between two nodes, the signals would have been distributed due to the redundant topology.
