Colombia. With the project "Le mur vegetalise de l'Annonciade" (The Green Wall of the Annunciation), the city of Lyon, France, took first place in the tenth version of the City People Light awards, during an award ceremony that for the first time was held in Latin America.
The winning project combines lighting, vegetation and paintings to recreate in the street the atmosphere of the interior of a soft and warm room. This setting, located in La Croix Rousse, offers visitors the opportunity to contemplate the paintings.
The idea behind this lighting is to awaken the sensory pleasures of passers-by while appreciating the mural, vegetation and three images by photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The Lighting design was carried out by the Department of Public Lighting of the City of Lyon.
The competition organized by Philips and Lighting Urban Community International Association, Luci, recognizes those projects that demonstrate the contribution of lighting to the well-being of those who live, work or visit a city or town.
In the ceremony, held in Medellin, Colombia, the framework of the annual assembly of the associates of Luci, the city of Stavanger, in Norway, took second place, and in third place went to Genk, in Belgium. Similarly, Taipei and Moscow were given special mentions.
