HDBaseT was designed with the specific goal of handling UNcompressed HD audio and video, internet, control and power supply, all known as 5Play convergence.
Its development was in charge of the HDBaseT Alliance and its founding members are LG, Samsung, Sony and Semiconductores Valens, but currently among its contributing members and those who have already implemented the technology, are most of the most important companies in the AV industry.
Among its specifications are: uncompressed audio and video transmission with more than 10Gbps, lengths of up to 100 meters on Cat5e cables or six with standard RJ-45 connectors, capacity of up to 100W of power by the same twisted pair cable, supports Ethernet for 100Mbps, compatible with HDCP and more.
If we see the conflicts we find when handling HDMI distribution, HDBaseT can be a simple and efficient way to solve most of them, but like everything, we must read and study because it is a fact that does not solve poorly made designs, nor correct installation errors, but if the task is done, there are several ways in which this technology can facilitate the transport and distribution of the signals normally used in our projects.
One of the things that facilitates its implementation is that what enters, leaves, that is, does not alter the signal or its integrity; if when connecting a computer there is no signal with HDBaseT, it is because there is no signal via HDMI either. It is possible to use any UTP or STP twisted pair cable. The most recommended is the use of Cat6, of course it works with 5e, but because the next version is already in development, in this way we can ensure its compatibility.
HDBaseT does not require any type of configuration, they are plug and play equipment, and without a doubt the possibility of combining equipment from different manufacturers in a transparent way in the system is very attractive, but the most important thing without a doubt is that it is for integrators, it is thought of us and how we can do better projects for the benefit of your customers.
