Latin America. A call to reduce energy consumption in educational institutions is the one that is being made from different governments in Latin America and to which different manufacturers of lighting controllers have joined.
And the campaign is reactivated especially now that in most countries in the region a new school year begins, added to measurements that indicate that about 50% of the school's operating expenses are for energy when they are fully operational.
Therefore, the main recommendation is the installation of systems for lighting control, an innovative option in terms of energy savings. It is also proven that good lighting helps the student's concentration and facilitates the work of teachers, which contributes to improving learning and school performance.
Lutron Electronics, is one of the companies that has led this campaign in Latin America. In Mexico, for example, the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, implemented in one of its buildings the HomeWorks QS lighting control system along with EcoSystem panels and digital ballasts from Lutron Electronics, with savings of up to 50% of its energy consumption.
For the new classrooms, which incorporate audio and video technologies that require special lighting and different from that used with the whiteboard, there are control solutions on the market that provide flexibility for the use of different teaching methods.
Other spaces, such as libraries, gyms, and common areas such as stairs and corridors, also have specific applications of the industry, which allow to perfectly combine artificial light with natural light.
Therefore, the call is for educational institutions to reduce operating costs, protect the environment and improve the learning experience through lighting.
