Latin America. In the last three years the Latin American audiovisual industry has been growing by about 13% per year, according to InfoComm statistics. Double-digit growth has been made possible by the economic growth of most countries in the region.
But the entities that closely follow the economy of Latin America have begun to warn of a possible stagnation in the coming years. The Inter-American Development Bank, IDB, ECLAC and the International Monetary Fund have agreed on the same concept.
The three entities have indicated that growth in the coming years will be 3%, which would be insufficient to maintain the development of the countries. One of the main causes is the cooling of what became the most important trading partner of most Latin countries: China.
In addition, the economic recovery of the United States after the crisis began in 2008, which will generate a stabilization of monetary policies and the withdrawal of aid and stimuli, which had also influenced the region.
And although the representatives of the three entities spoke of a growth in Latin America that they described as "mediocre", for the coming years, they called attention to the different governments so that, now that they will not have such favorable external conditions, they look for a way to continue growing with good figures despite how complicated the panorama may be.
We will have to wait what will be the consequences of this slowdown in the regional economy and its consequences in the audiovisual industry. The question is, are you ready?
