Ecuador. LED lamps were used to illuminate the streets of the colonial sector of the city of Quito, capital of Ecuador, thanks to a municipal lighting project of the Historic Center of the city.
In addition to enhancing the tourist area, the municipal administration, in charge of executing the project, stressed that they seek to reduce the costs of lighting, both in energy consumption, and the constant change of the lamps that they had to do with the neon luminaires.
This project, which is being executed by the Metropolitan Institute of Heritage, IMP, and the Quito Electric Company (EEQ), contemplates the installation of the luminaires on the facades of the houses, changing the position with the previous lighting that occupied the spaces of use of cars and pedestrians.
The execution of the project must be completed no later than the beginning of October, with the installation of LED lights on four of the main roads in the area. Time for which they expect to start saving up to 80% in energy consumption by lighting the area.
The representatives of the Metropolitan Institute of Heritage informed that the removed lights that are in good condition, will be used to illuminate the parks of the city that at this time require an intervention.
