Colombia. Now that the month of December is approaching, there are many cities that seek to encourage tourism through the installation of lighting alluding to Christmas. And one of the cities in Latin America that has been characterized by its installation is Medellín, Colombia.
For this year, the installation works on its traditional River Walk began in August. According to the information released by Empresas Públicas de Medellín, the entity in charge of the installation, in addition to how striking the lighting will be, the figures that surround it are also surprising.
In total, there will be 27 million LED bulbs that will be installed throughout the city, added to 730 kilometers of led light hose, 60 RGB LED projectors, 200 electronic controls, 10,000 LED chains of 10 meters in length.
There is also an LED graffiti screen made up of nine modules of two meters by two meters with 90,000 individual LEDs, 500 projectors of 1,000 watts, a 2.5 W laser projector, a video mapping, a hologram and 30 electronic programming boards.
In other materials used and infrastructure, the figures are just as striking. 10 tons of metallic paper of different colors were required, 150 tons of iron, 48 mechanisms-moving structures, 50 motors and motor generators, 3,000 sails were installed on the Medellín River, the smallest figure is five centimeters, the largest is 26 meters high and 260 artisans participated in the manufacture of the figures.
The lights of Medellín will be on between the first of December and the sixth of January 2014.
