Argentina. The idea is to reinforce lighting more efficiently, especially to improve road safety. And to advance in that objective, the Buenos Aires highways are already changing the current lights for others of LED technology.
The measure reaches those that are administered by the Buenos Aires Government through Ausa: Perito Moreno, Dellepiane, 25 de Mayo, Cámpora, Illia, Cantilo and Lugones. There will be, when the plan is complete, 4,000 new lamps in all sections. Strictly speaking, it will be a new light network that will save 57% of energy consumption.
LED lamps reduce energy consumption but also improve the visibility of motorists, not only on fast roads, but also on descents and nearby areas where there are homes. That is why they were chosen for this new improvement in the highways. The works began in February in the Perito Moreno, the Dellepiane and the Cámpora and, as anticipated by AUSA, should be completed in three months.
On May 25 the diagram will be different because due to the works that are being done to build the Metrobus lanes, 488 poles will be installed on the sides of the track.
The project that seeks more light and more safety at night for those who circulate on the highways is called "Energy Efficiency". And the change also encompasses the lights located on the ramps to better illuminate nearby homes. Until now, devices were being used with sodium vapor lamps, which generated more consumption and have less useful life.
But once the plan is finished, they will have changed, as they anticipate, 40.5 kilometers of cheaper, safer and more controlled light network, because they will have a system that will allow the remote verification of the entire system from the Control Center. The northern route, which will be the second stage, is scheduled to start at the end of the year, with a period of three months for the Illia, the Lugones and Cantilo. There 1,261 units will be changed.
According to data provided by AUSA, this plan completes the one already implemented in the toll canopies. That began at the end of last year and ended at the beginning of this one, including the replacement of mercury devices with new LED devices and the change of a hundred new lights in the Perito Moreno and the Dellepiane. In addition, the toll booths were renovated. All this initiative is part of the Green Highways plan, which aims to have sustainable highways
