Mexico. The 45th anniversary of Earth Day, which was celebrated on April 22, was instituted in 1970 by American environmentalist Gaylord Nelson. With his gesture, he sought to create a common awareness of issues affecting the conservation of the planet and the well-being of humanity, such as air pollution, biodiversity preservation, water conservation and energy saving, among other environmental concerns.
Lutron Electronics recalled that nine years earlier, in 1961, Joel Spira created the first solid-state attenuator (dimmer) and founded the company. Like Nelson and Spira, everyone can do their bit and help the planet by knowing and applying the different ways in which energy can be saved.
In Mexico, lighting accounts for 40% of the energy consumed in the home and this figure is the same for both commercial and office buildings. And more, it is estimated that by 2040, energy consumption in homes worldwide will increase by 57%. That is why it is essential to continue adopting practices that help reduce energy consumption for the benefit of the planet.
On the occasion of Earth Day, Lutron Electronics, invited to know how lighting control systems can help consume energy intelligently and without waste, both at home and in the office. What was once only seen in the science fiction world is now within reach.
While there are many ways to take care of the planet in addition to reducing energy consumption, such as taking care of water consumption or using fewer cars and more bicycles, the adoption of systems for lighting control is an option that allows you to contribute without making sacrifices.
The adoption of lighting controls, in addition to reducing our expenses associated with energy consumption, enriches our quality of life while providing comfort and flexibility, whether at home, work or even at school.
The company concluded that "Remember that the Earth is our home and together we can contribute to conserve it through the efficient consumption of lighting."
