Mexico. In 4,800 million Mexican pesos, the LED lighting market is expected to close this year in the North American country, thanks to the use of LED luminaires in public lighting, and other sectors such as automotive, decoration and toys.
According to Alberto Larios Segura, general director of Expo Eléctrica Internacional 2013, the use of LED lamps has increased due to the decrease in their costs, trends that are expected to continue this year, even , some of the most optimistic merchants expect a cost reduction of up to 50%.
To this encouraging panorama are added the government programs that are being implemented. In 2012 alone, the Mexican government freely exchanged 47 million bulbs for LED lamps, through the Sustainable Light program.
Another argument of Alberto Larios Segura for the positive expectations of LED luminaires in 2013 in Mexico, has to do with the plan to reduce energy expenditure with a goal set for 2014, by eliminating traditional bulbs that convert 90% of their energy into heat and only 10% into lighting.
