AVIXA Appoints Sarah Joyce as Global Director

Latin America. Sarah Joyce will become AVIXA's next Global Director, replacing Terry Friesenborg, who will retire at the end of the year. Sarah comes to AVIXA after nearly 12 years at Electrosonic Ltd., most recently as Managing Director. She and Friesenborg will jointly manage AVIXA's global operations for the remainder of 2019 to ensure a smooth transition.

"I am delighted to join AVIXA. I have long admired how the association has evolved and developed over the years, especially in its expansion of member services and international growth. Around the world, the AV industry encompasses many types of organizations that offer a variety of solutions and services. We are a broad and powerful community. I look forward to working with AVIXA's talented staff and global partners to help our industry harness innovation, foster diversity and grow the market for audiovisual experiences and the people who create them," said Sarah.

In her role as AVIXA's Global Director, Sarah will oversee all of the association's activities outside of North America, including member services, education and certification, standards adoption, government relations and exhibitions. In addition, he will serve on the boards of Integrated Systems Events, InfoCommAsia Pte Ltd and TecnoMultimedia InfoComm, as well as other regional operating units.

Sarah was a member of avixa's Board of Directors from 2013 to 2015. She hosted the inaugural Women of InfoComm Network breakfast at Integrated Systems Europe in 2015, helping to establish the successful AVIXA Women's Council, which now supports more than 32 groups worldwide.

"Sarah has been part of the AV industry for 20 years. I have seen first-hand his passion for the industry we serve, his leadership experience on a global stage and his direct knowledge of our diverse groups, from manufacturers, integrators and distributors, to end users. We are incredibly fortunate to have Sarah join us as Global Director and lead our continued global expansion," said AVIXA Executive Director David Labuskes, CTS, CAE, RCDD.

Sarah takes office on May 6. It will be based near London.

"I also want to thank Terry Friesenborg for his 40 years of commitment to AV experiences, and for his two decades of service to AVIXA and InfoComm around the world. Under Terry's leadership, we have grown to become a truly global organization, with members in 80 countries and trade shows in 10 countries. AVIXA and the audiovisual industry owe Terry Friesenborg an enormous debt of gratitude. I know Sarah Joyce will build on Terry's impressive legacy," Labuskes concluded.
