International. Digital cinema Barco and Bad Robot Productions have announced that "Star Trek Beyond," one of this year's most anticipated films, will be released in the multi-screen theatrical format Barco Escape, taking audiences into the action of the interstellar franchise – like never before.
J. J. Abrams, director of Bad Robot, will master a special version of the film for its presentation, with the expansion of the narrative through three screens that will give an exciting experience for the public on July 22.
Producer and President Bad Robot, JJ Abrams, commented, "In particular, it is fitting that we are partnering with Barco to provide an ultra-widescreen immersive experience using its unique Escape format. This high-quality format dramatically expands the width of the plane of view, giving filmmakers an innovative new tool for storytelling and audiences an improved new way to experience cinema."
Escape Ship will ignite the Star Trek universe by creating "moments" on all three screens that will thrill fans. Bad Robot will once again master more than 20 minutes of "Star Trek Beyond" in the new format. As part of Bad Robot's commitment to innovative technology, a company executive will also join Barco Escape's advisory board.
"JJ Abrams and the Star Trek franchise share our passion for exploration and innovation, so we are thrilled to take the lineup alongside Barco Escape in 2016's 'Beyond,'" said Escape Ship CEO Todd Hoddick.
