First AV over IP products available from Atlona

Latin America. Representing a breakthrough in the convergence of AV and IT, Atlona announced that OmniStream, its first AV over IP product line, is now available for ordering and shipping through OmniStream's authorized partners.

The OmniStream family consists of five distinct products for integrating and distributing 4K/UHD video, audio, and controlling over RS-232 Gigabit Ethernet networks using common network switches. The OmniStream line offers a variety of features that are used for the first time in the industry, including high-density, dual-channel encoding and decoding, redundant networks and streams of audiovisual data, encrypted content distribution, network fault resistance, 4K video compression with broadcast quality and extremely low latency, and the ability to transmit 4K video and Dante audio simultaneously over the same network.

"We created OmniStream as a completely new platform for the reliable delivery of high-performance 4K video across enterprise-wide network facilities," said David Shamir, director of product management at Atlona. "It redefines audiovisual distribution over IP networks and addresses the many challenges involved in integrating and managing the audiovisual signal that is transmitted over Ethernet. It offers the performance and reliability of traditional audiovisual technologies and meets the technical demands of audiovisual professionals as well as IT administrators."

According to Shamir, OmniStream's network-based approach allows for virtually unlimited scalability and low integration cost, advantages that are not available with conventional matrix switch technology. He stated that the new range is perfectly suited to interconnect audiovisual signal between multiple rooms and floors of an entire building and widely across a corporate or university campus.
