Colombia. Latin America is in a process of changing lighting technology, both for residential, commercial buildings and public spaces, and LED lighting is being adopted in all countries. Therefore, the growth expectations of manufacturers in this industry are set in emerging markets, such as ours.
AVI LATINOAMÉRICA spoke with two senior managers of the Philips company working in the research and development of new products in the United States, Scott Kachelek and Tomas Sandoval, who are currently visiting Colombia.
Both recognized that markets such as the United States and Europe are mature in terms of lighting and have intelligent systems, so now they focus on Latin America, where countries such as Colombia, Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador have an advanced work in the modernization of their systems.
One of the aspects highlighted by the two experts on the adoption of LED lighting is that there is still a lot of ignorance on the part of installers and integrators about the applications and possibilities it offers in terms of the intelligent management and control of spaces.
Therefore, they assured that one of Philips' strategies to grow in the market has been to educate installers and integrators so that they handle the information as clearly as possible.
On the development of Oled technology, Tomas Sandoval indicated that it is currently in the research and development stage, as they are still analyzing what will be the best applications for this technology, before starting a serial production that would not be in less than six years.
