Chile. The touted saving lights could produce adverse effects on the mood and health of those under their influence, says Oriana Ponzini, a specialist in sustainable lighting.
In statements to local media, he said that the cost of saving up to 90% of energy and money spent on lighting, could be to lose the quality of life, because poor quality LED lights radiate harmful waves to vision and skin, and increase ambient heat, causing environmental damage that is not considered.
He assured that LED lights generally have poor light quality. "The so-called 'daylight' or 'warm' are of low quality unless they mention their chromatic performance, which must reach at least 80% to deliver good lighting and reflect colors without distortion."
He also highlighted the benefits of optical control offered by LED luminaires, and that is why he proposes that these lights be used with control systems that allow optimizing lighting so that they turn off in places where there is no presence of people and increase where there are.
Finally, he called for more education and information for consumers, so that they have better arguments when deciding which bulb to buy or which system to install.
