International. Lighting manufacturer Philips is testing a novel system, based on LED technology, that will make life easier for supermarket customers when looking for products.
How does it work? Through an app for mobile devices, customers can connect with the supermarket system. The system uses light settings to form a network that acts as a positioning mesh. Each setting is identifiable and can communicate its position.
This can be achieved through a connectivity protocol that modifies the diode of the LED bulbs, a system that is in town. What the company did not clarify is whether to use the system it will be necessary to have access to a data plan or a WiFi connection in supermarkets. Or if, on the contrary, the connectivity system with the LEDs will work on its own.
The system is not only intended to help find the products in stores. Its creators seek that each customer has a history of the purchases they usually make in the store and in this way make different offers, such as coupons, promotions and announce new products.
The company indicated that through this application it hopes to avoid that customers have to walk through each of the aisles of supermarkets, since they will be able to plan their purchases and find the products they require when they arrive at the store.
